1. When can I start training my puppy to an Invisible Fence^® system?

Yes. Your cat can use the Invisible Fence^® system, both outdoors and indoors. The outdoor system keeps your cat safe at home while allowing him outdoor exercise. Indoor systems keep your cat away from counters, tables, and furniture or out of a room entirely; you can create a cat-free zone anywhere in your home. 3. What is Safe Dog^® Training?

5. Are there any specific breeds that cannot be trained to the Invisible Fence^® system?

We believe that with appropriate training, just about all dogs regardless of breed can be safely and effectively trained to an Invisible Fence^® system. Every dog is an individual with different personalities and temperaments. Our Safe Dog ^® Training protocols have been developed to teach dogs, regardless of breed, age, or personality to respect their Invisible Fence^® boundary.

6. Will I be able to take my dog for a walk after he is trained to stay within his Invisible Fence^® boundary?

We encourage you to take your dog for a walk. However, we recommend that he is completely trained to the Invisible Fence^® system and all the flags have been removed, which usually takes a couple of weeks, before taking him on walks.

7. Is an Invisible Fence^® system safe for my dog?

Yes, an Invisible Fence^® system is safe and humane. It is recommended by veterinarians, professional dog trainers, behaviorists and other pet experts. 8. Does the correction hurt the dog?

11. Can Invisible Fence^® Brand be used with a pregnant dog?

In over 35 years we have found no evidence that suggests an Invisible Fence^® system produces any detrimental effects on or risks for a pregnant dog. We have had veterinary reports of many pregnant dogs, dogs in season, and dogs conceiving while on the Invisible Fence^® system. Nevertheless, we always recommend a conservative approach. If, for some reason, you have reservations about putting a pregnant dog on the system, we recommend that you consult with your veterinarian.

12. Will my Invisible Fence^® system work with my small dog?

Yes, in over 35 years, dogs of just about all size, breed, age, and temperament have successfully been trained to the Invisible Fence^® system. The featherweight Computer Collar^® is small and light enough to be worn by even the smallest breeds like Yorkshire Terriers, Pekingese, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas and Pomeranians.

13. How long will it take to train my dog to her new boundaries?

On average, Safe Dog^® Training takes 2-3 weeks. However, since each dog is an individual with different personalities and temperaments, the length of training may vary.

14. Can I leave my dog unattended in the yard while I'm at work?

Animal experts do not recommend leaving pets outside unattended for long periods of time regardless of how they are contained.

I am considering purchasing an Invisible Fence^® Brand system and I have a question about:

1. Does the correction hurt the dog?

4. Does the Invisible Fence^® system interfere with radios, TVs, or garage door openers?

The Invisible Fence^® transmitter is FCC Certified and is designed not to cause interference with other electronic devices.

5. Does Invisible Fence^® interfere with pacemakers?

We have never received a complaint indicating any of our products interfere or cause harm to pacemakers or their hosts. Our system works by radio carrier frequency -- either 7.5 kilohertz or 10.8 kilohertz. We utilize 30-hertz modulation frequency. As we are not privy to the electronic makeup of the device, we cannot give you a definitive answer. To be safe, we suggest you contact the pacemaker's manufacturer. The manufacturer knows their product intimately and is best suited to address your interference concerns.

6. Will a power failure affect the Invisible Fence^® system?

When the power is out, your Invisible Fence^® system will continue to operate with the optional battery back-up. A battery back-up that keeps your system operating in the event of a power outage is available through your local Invisible Fence^® professional.

7. Since you can't see the Invisible Fence^® system, could people become frightened when they see a "loose" dog?

An Invisible Fence^® by StayDog professional will provide you with yard signs to inform neighbors that your dog is safely contained by an Invisible Fence^®.

8. Will the Invisible Fence^® system work for other animals besides dogs and cats?

We have reports of customers who have used Invisible Fence^® products on farm animals (cows, sheep, pigs, etc.) with success. However, Invisible Fence^® products are intended for domestic dogs and cats, and we have only developed training protocols for these pets.

9. How many pets can I have on my Invisible Fence^® system?

You can place multiple pets on the same Invisible Fence^® system. However, each pet needs to wear his own customized Computer Collar^® . Each pet must also have separate training lessons.

Outdoor Systems

1. How does an Invisible Fence^® system work outdoors?

Very simply, a wire is concealed around the perimeter of your property, establishing your pet's Invisible Boundary^®. A transmitter hidden in an out-of-the way location - like a basement or garage - sends a radio signal along the wire. The radio signal is picked up by your pet's Computer Collar^®, which emits a warning sound when he approaches the Invisible Boundary^®. Through Safe Dog^® Training your dog learns to obey the signal and stay within the established boundaries.

2. Will the Invisible Fence^® system keep other dogs off of my property?

The Invisible Fence^® system is designed to keep your dog contained on your property. It is not designed to keep other dogs, or people, off of your property.

4. Can Invisible Fence^® boundary wire be installed along an existing fence?

Invisible Fence^® boundary wire can be installed along an existing fence. If you have a chain link fence it can also be attached directly to the chain link fence. It is important to keep in mind that the signal field at the chain link fence may be larger or smaller than the signal field produced at other boundaries on your property.

5. How do you lay the boundary wire across my driveway?

Depending on the type of driveway you have (concrete, asphalt, gravel, brick), the method changes. Invisible Fence^® by StayDog has experience laying wire across all driveway surfaces.

6. Can I run the boundary wire through water?

Yes, boundary wire can be run through lakes, streams or creeks. Invisible Fence^® by StayDog has experience running boundary wire though water.

My System

1. Where can I purchase batteries for my Invisible Fence^® Computer Collar^®?

Batteries for your dog's collar are available through your local Invisible Fence^® Brand Pet Safety Professional. These specially designed Power Cap^® units are the only 3-volt battery recommended by Invisible Fence^® Brand to be used in your pet's receiver while under warranty. The Invisible Fence^® warranty does not cover third party products, nor does it cover damage to your Invisible Fence^® Brand products caused by the use of third party products and accessories, such as batteries and power supplies.

2. How can I fix a wire break?

We recommend that you contact your local Invisible Fence^® Brand Pet Safety Professional if you have a wire break. Each system, depending on when it was manufactured, uses a different method to find wire breaks. Therefore it is difficult to determine where the break may be. To ensure a proper repair, contact Invisible Fence^® by StayDog.

3. Why won't my CT4000 transmitter work with the Computer Collar^®?

The CT4000 is an older model transmitter that used analog technology. Our ICT series transmitters and the Computer Collar^® use microprocessors and digital technology. Analog and digital technologies are not compatible with each other, however, we do have transmitter and/or Computer Collar^® upgrade programs available. Please contact Invisible Fence^® by StayDog more information.

4. My dog used to stay 8 feet from the boundary wire. He is now staying only 3 feet away from the boundary wire. Why?

There are a few reasons why your dog is getting closer to the boundary.
The Power Cap^® battery in your Computer Collar^® may be low and need to be replaced.
There may be a partial break in the boundary wire.
There may be a corroded splice in the boundary wire.
Re-training may be necessary once the system is restored back to working order.
To ensure the safety of your pet, contact Invisible Fence^® by StayDog Professional to check your system.

5. Can I take my Invisible Fence^® system with me when I move?

Yes, you can take your Invisible Fence^® system when you move. Most Invisible Fence^® owners take the Invisible Fence^® transmitter and Computer Collar^® with them and have new boundary wire installed at their new home.

My Dog's Training

1. Can I take my dog for a walk now that he is trained to the Invisible Fence^® System?

You should follow the same routine every time you take your dog for a walk. We recommend you follow this routine:

(1) Walk your dog up to the edge of the boundary line. (2) Tell him to "Sit." Tell him to "Wait." (3) Put on the collar he normally wears when walking on a lead. (4) Attach a short lead to this collar. (5) Remove his Invisible Fence^® Computer Collar^®. (6) Then walk him across the boundary with a clear "Ok, let's go.

" Following this routine in the same place in your yard each time you want your dog to leave the yard, makes it easy for him to learn that he can safely leave his yard in this specific set of circumstances.

After you return to the yard (in the same place you left the yard), test your dog to make sure that he understands that when his Computer Collar^® is on he cannot leave the yard. The routine you should follow when you return to your yard is: (1) Bring your dog back into the safe area at the same place you left the yard. (2) Put the Computer Collar^® on your dog and remove the other collar and the lead attached to it. (3) Act like you are going to leave the yard again. Do not say anything. (4) If your dog follows you he will be corrected by the Invisible Fence^® system for trying to leave. The correction he receives reinforces the idea that he can safely leave the yard only when a specific routine is followed.

2. Can I remove my dog's Computer Collar^® now that he's trained to respect his Invisible Fence^® Boundary?

Your dog should always wear his Computer Collar^® when he is outdoors. Although your dog is trained to respect his boundaries, he may still be tempted. The Computer Collar^®'s warning sound and correction act as a training reminder to keep your dog from leaving your yard.

4. I'm moving to a new house and taking my system with me, do I have to retrain my dog?

Yes, you must retrain your dog because he will not know where his new boundaries are. Since your dog has already been trained to an Invisible Fence^® system the process may not take as long this time. Allow your dog at least 1 week to become accustomed to his new surroundings before you start retraining him. Make sure the Invisible Boundary® is flagged. We recommend the following protocol: (1) Put a training collar and lead on your dog. (2) Put the Computer Collar^® on him. (3) Introduce him to his new boundaries, including distractions, for several days. (4) When he consistently retreats from his new boundaries remove the lead. Supervise your pet outdoors for several days. (5) Gradually increase the amount of unsupervised time.

5. When can I start training my new puppy to my Invisible Fence^® System?

Every dog is different. We use the following guidelines:

Puppy should be at least 8 weeks old.
Puppy should obey simple commands such as sit, stay, come.
Puppy can walk on a lead.

My Dog

1. Why should I check my dog's neck and remove the Computer Collar^® periodically?

The Computer Collar^® should be removed every night during the first month and at least once a week thereafter. Neck irritation may develop at any time, but is most likely to take place (1) during warm, wet weather conditions (2) with thick-coated dogs (3) during shedding season or (4) any time the Computer Collar^® is left on for long periods of time.

2. Should I remove my dog's Computer Collar^® when I take him for a ride in the car?

The Computer Collar^® should always be removed anytime you leave your yard, whether you are taking him dog for a walk or a ride in the car.

3. Can I leave my dog unattended in the yard while I'm at work?

Animal experts do not recommend leaving pets outside unattended for long periods of time regardless of how they are contained.

4. Can my dog use his outdoor Computer Collar^® indoors as well?
